To keep our virtual space safe and ensure that only registered participants enter theÌývirtualÌýspace:Ìý

  • You will be asked to briefly turn on your camera at the start of the workshop; this is to confirm your identity and ensure that you are in a confidential space. If it's not necessary for the group / workshop's goals you will be able to turn off your camera after this identity check. Without this step, we will not be able to proceed with the event.
  • DoÌýnot allow any other person to access your registration information, including the link.Ìý
  • No recording, pictures, or screenshots are permittedÌýat any time.ÌýÌý
  • Please use your 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ credentials when connecting to the videoconference session so that we can ascertain that it is you participating. We will not be able to let you inÌýto the workshopÌýif you are using other credentials.
  • Please note that your screen name should match the name on your 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ e-mail account. If it does not or if you need assistance with updating your screen name please emailÌýhub.programming [at] mcgill.ca. Without this information, we will not be able to admit you to the event.

  • Find a privateÌýand quietÌýspace and try to free yourself from distractionsÌýand create a confidential and private space where you will not be interrupted, and your conversation will not be overheard. Consider creating white noise outside the doorway, and use headphones or earbuds. Test your speakers and microphone to make sure they’re working.

It is also recommended that you:Ìý

  • Use the biggest screen size available to you (i.e.Ìýa laptop rather than a phone). Ensure that the device is stable and the camera level with your eyes. Make sure thatÌýyou’reÌýwell-litÌýroomÌýwith no bright light source directly behind you
  • To reduce lag and improve the quality of the session,Ìýclose any browser tabs orÌýprograms you don’t need
  • Make sure your family members or roommates are notÌýusingÌýstreaming video services (e.g., Netflix,ÌýYouTube) during your video session unless you have sufficient bandwidth to support plenty of streaming services at once
