Accessing Medical Services Off-Campus

  1. One of the first steps for locating a medical service in your neighbourhood is to access the . The Integrated Health and Social Services Centre (CISSS) and Integrated University Health and Social Services Centre (CIUSSS) page functions as a reference point for finding services in various neighbourhoods in Montreal. 
  2. to see a family doctor. Your request will be evaluated and priority may be granted based on the status of your health. Unfortunately, your wait time cannot be checked and waitlist times may vary from neighbourhood to neighbourhood. If possible, we recommend consulting friends and/or colleagues regarding knowledge of current doctors taking on new patients to speed up the process.
  3. If you are in need of urgent care or if your doctor is unavailable, walk-in clinics are another option available to you. These services do not require an appointment. To locate a walk-in clinic in proximity to your or your workplace, visit the .
  4. If you would like an additional consultation or to speak directly with a bilingual nurse, we recommend calling  by simply dialing '8-1-1'. This free, 24/7, and confidential service is most recommended for non-urgent health matters.
  5. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 9-1-1.

Pregnancy & Other Health Matters

If you are in need of an abortion, offers free appointments at abortion clinics. Two appointments are usually required, and it is recommended that you have taken a pregnancy test before calling to schedule an appointment. If you have the Quebec (RAMQ) health insurance card (more information) or a valid immigration certificate, these services are free of charge.

91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ offers students and faculty two clinic options: one located downtown and the other at the Macdonald Campus in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

  • To make an appointment at their clinic, located at 752 Sherbrooke St. W. (corner 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ College Avenue), please call 514-398-3155. Please note that this clinic offers coverage for those under the SSMU and PGSS dental plans.

For 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Employees, you can contact the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Employee Assistance Program (EAP-Longpré) at 514-843-7009 or 1-800-567-2433. This is a private, free counselling service available 24/7 to not only employees but their spouses and children as well. 


Health Insurance Options

RAMQ Health Insurance Card

The provides card-holders with access to a range of services, such as dental, medical, optometric, and pharmaceutical services. For information about eligibility and services provided, consult the . Please note that 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ students and faculty with French citizenship have access to these cards automatically.

International Student Health Insurance Card

If you are an international student or the parent of an international student, health coverage under the ISS is compulsory. More information is available through Minerva and your card can be picked-up at the Service Point located underneath McLennan Library.
