The Senate Subcommittee on Women
Advancing Gender Equity and Inclusion at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ
The Senate Subcommittee on Women (SSCOW) works to advance equity and inclusion for women and gender-diverse individuals within the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ community. We advocate for gender equality, lead initiatives to improve the status and treatment of women and gender minorities, and foster connections with other equity-seeking groups.
SSCOW is one of six subcommittees that report directly to the Joint Board-Senate Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDIC), alongside the Subcommittee on Queer People, the Subcommittee on Persons with Disabilities, the Subcommittee on Family Care, the Subcommittee on First Peoples, and the Subcommittee on Racialized and Ethnic Persons.
As an advisory body, SSCOW provides recommendations to the University Senate on policies, practices, and initiatives that promote gender equity at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ. We also work in collaboration with other subcommittees and university stakeholders to uphold 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s equity, diversity, and inclusion commitments. For more information, see SSCOW's mandate.
