Program Registration

Registration for undergraduate medical education takes place in three stages, outlined below:

Stage 1: Online Registration for Courses (via )

  • All students entering the four-year MDCMÌýprogram must register online ()Ìýfor the full year ofÌýcourses (Fall 2026, Winter 2027, Summer 2027).
  • Only registered students can attend Orientation.
  • Registration isÌýbetween June 1, 2026Ìýto July 10, 2026.
  • For students admitted after July 10, 2026, please register for Fall and Winter courses no later than August 14, 2026Ìýand the UGME office will take care of Summer 2027Ìýregistration.
  • Please note that after August 14, 2026Ìýa late fee will be charged for students who have not registered for at least 1 course.

Course Exemptions


Interprofessional Education courses

  • Students who took IPEA 500 and 501 at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ in 2024 or later, are automatically granted an exemption from repeating these courses.Ìý
  • Students who completed similar courses, in 2024 or later, at a University other than 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, please submit the form linked to instructions inÌýPDF icon EnglishÌýor PDF icon French and include course outline(s) to the Office of Interprofessional Education (OIPE) at the following address: ipecourses.med [at] mcgill.caÌýby June 30.ÌýFor students admitted after June 30, the documents must be submitted by the first day of class.

Reasearch courses

  • Students who have attained a PhD may be exempt from taking INDS 123 Research Fundamentals in Med Year 1.
    1. PhD granted at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ: If you have completed your PhD at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, the Student Records team will ensure the exemption appears on your transcript at the beginning of the academic year. If you do not see the exemption at the start of Orientation, please contact the Student Records Officer.
    2. PhD granted at a university other than 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ: If you have completed your PhD at a university other than 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, please as well as proof of degree conferred to the ugofficer.med [at] mcgill.ca (subject: INDS%20123%20exemption%20request%20-documents) (Student Records Officer.)

Documents must be submitted by June 30. For students accepted after June 30, documents must be submitted by Orientation. The exemption request must be reviewed by the Student Promotions Committee who will make the final decision of which you will be informed.

    Stage 2: CompulsoryÌýOrientation (beginning August 18)

    • Compulsory orientationÌýtakes place on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.Ìý Failure to attend any portion of the orientation may result in the cancellation of your registration.
    • Orientation Schedules will be shared here when they are available.
    • All admitted students are required to be in attendance for all orientation days, otherwise they are subject to de-registration from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.Ìý
    • You will also receive information about social activities for new students, interest groups, and class elections organized by the .

    Stage 3: Registration with the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ)

    • Details regarding registration with the CMQ will be provided at Orientation, including when you will receive an e-mail from the CMQ allowingÌýyou to register in their online system. This is generally shortly after orientation; 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ's deadline for you to register is September 30th.
    • You will need to obtain a Police Check to submit to the CMQ. SeeÌýCMQ Police CheckÌýfor more information.Ìý
