Teaching and Conferences

Interspersed with the teaching clinics and the consult service, there is a panoply of regular educational activities.

  1. Residents' academic half-days take place on Monday afternoon.
  2. The MUHC Endocrine Rounds take place from September to June on Thursday mornings at 8 am
  3. The JGH Endocrine Rounds are on Thursdays at noon
  4. MUHC Medical Grand Rounds are on Tuesdays at noon
  5. The JGH Medical Grand Rounds are on Mondays at noon
  6. The Residents' Educational Rounds take place on Thursdays at noon and follow a rotating schedule of Journal Clubs, Morbidity and Mortality Rounds, and Case of the Month discussions
  7. Informal teaching sessions (see Conferences/Forums) occur throughout the year, and lectureships and conferences by visiting professors are held regularly.
  8. Endocrine Tumor Boards are held once or twice a month:
    1. The MUHC Thyroid tumor board takes place once a month, usually the 3rd Friday of the month at 8 am
    2. The JGH Thyroid Tumor Board takes place once a month on a Wednesday at 4 pm
    3. The Skull-base Tumor Board (which includes sellar tumors) is held twice a month on Wednesdays at 8 am
  9. The Scientific Seminars of the Metabolic Disorders and Complications (MeDiC) programme of the MUHC Research Institute occur every Thursday at 4 pm.
  10. The 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Annual Research Day, a day-long event attended by staff, fellows, and students from throughout the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Endocrine Division, takes place in May every year. At this event, all trainees have the opportunity to present their research and become familiar with their colleagues’ work at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Additionally, this event features two renowned lectures: the Dr. Yogesh Patel Memorial Lecture in Neuroendocrinology and the Dr. Barry Posner Lecture on Metabolism.
  11. The Novo Nordisk Diabetes Lectureship is another annual event that takes place early in the spring, where internationally renowned scientists are invited to give two same day lectures on diabetes related fine point research, one lecture is given at the MUHC Medical Grand Rounds on a Tuesday noon, and the second one is an evening dinner lecture in a nice Montreal Hotel.
  12. The 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Endocrine Retreat takes place annually in November. Half a day is dedicated to professional development lectures and workshops; the other half day covers reports from research and clinical groups and sharing and refining our division’s plans and vision.
