Adult Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship Programs

Our Adult Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship Training Programs usually span one year in duration, although the length may vary (see below for more details).

You will be paired with our internationally renowned faculty who are based at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s affiliated teaching hospitals, community clinics and institutes. They will mentor you and will ensure you receive the most intellectually and scientifically stimulating of educations in the clinical environment.

Bone and Mineral Metabolism Fellowship 1 Year

A one (1) year clinical, teaching and research fellowship in bone and mineral metabolism. Fellows are expected to develop both their clinical and research acumen via exposure to a variety of clinical pathologies in specialized clinics, teaching opportunities in bone & mineral metabolism and development of a clinical / translational research project. The fellowship will include exposure to a wide variety of clinical areas as expanded upon in the Clinical Activities section below. Endocrine Tumors Fellowship 1 Year

A one-year clinical, teaching and research training in endocrine tumors, including pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals and other neuroendocrine tumors (NET’s). This extra training is obtained through participation in specialized clinics (clinical care, review of patients with staff, and teaching of junior residents and fellows), development and realization of research projects, attendance and participation in endocrine tumour boards, multidisciplinary clinics, and major scientific meetings. Metabolic Disorders Fellowship 1 Year

A one-year clinical, teaching and research training in diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, secondary and gestational) and metabolic disorders, including but not limited to dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and bariatric medicine. This extra training is obtained through participation in specialized clinics (clinical care of patients with staff, and teaching of junior house staff), development and realization of research projects (clinical and/or basic) in metabolic disorders, and through attendance and participation in major scientific meetings. Molecular Genetics of Endocrine Tumors Fellowship 1 Year

A one-year clinical, teaching and research training on all clinical aspects and molecular genetics of inherited and sporadic endocrine tumors. The aim of this fellowship training will be that the fellow deepens their expertise in the molecular genetics aspects of endocrine neoplasia, including but not limited to inherited endocrine tumor syndromes such as the multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) syndromes (which now span MEN1 to 5) and many other. This extra training is obtained through 1. participation in specialized endocrine tumor and genetic clinics; 2. spending at least one academic period in the Core Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory; 3. developing and completing at least one research project under co-supervision from geneticists and endocrine tumor specialists; 4. participation in endocrine tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary endocrine tumor clinics; 5. attending major familial endocrine tumor-related scientific meetings; 6. teaching of junior residents and fellows. Reproductive Endocrinology and Health Fellowship 1 Year

A one-year clinical, teaching and research fellowship in reproductive endocrinology. Endocrine topics studied include polycystic ovarian syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, premature ovarian insufficiency, male and female hypogonadism, transgender medicine and endocrine disorders of pregnancy. Basics of gynecological reproductive endocrinology are also studied including protocols for intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilization, embryology and genetics. Supervisors will be from the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Gynecology. The extra training is achieved through participation in specialized clinics, shadowing of gynecological reproductive endocrinology techniques, participation in research, teaching of endocrine fellows and attendance at specialized rounds and journal clubs.ÌýRead full description here.
