Applied Finance Project
The integrative finance project is a core component of the programme, providing students with the opportunity to immediately put into practice the skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom. Students fulfill this requirement in three overlapping stages:
- Desautels Capital Management Inc.: Upon entry into the program, students join as analysts. DCM is a licensed and regulated asset management firm with an independent board of directors and external investors. As analysts, students are responsible for a particular sector, identifying investment opportunities and pitching them to colleagues. Students are responsible for dealing with regulatory issues, compliance, trading and execution, back office settlement, preparation and filing of financial statements and client communication.
- Professional seminar series: Regular seminars expose students to current issues and practices in financial markets. Led by professionals from various industries, e.g. hedge funds, pension funds, tax/legal accountants, etc., seminars provide practical insight and unique networking opportunities.
- Final project: Students work on a finance topic of their choice under the supervision of a faculty member. The project offers the opportunity to think independently and creatively about an important financial topic, apply their quantitative skills and showcase marketable skillsets in an area of their interest..
International study trip
In the Fall of year two, students enrolled in the MMF programme travel to London, England to witness firsthand how today鈥檚 financial sector operates in a booming metropolis. Over five days, and thanks to 91丝瓜视频鈥檚 extensive alumni network, students meet with several distinct financial organizations that operate across areas such as asset management, real estate, risk management and private equity.
