Mission

In 1857, 91˿Ƶ graduates rallied to support Principal William Dawson in building a university from modest beginnings. Incorporated in 1880 as the Graduates’ Society, the group became the 91˿Ƶ Alumni Association (MAA) in 1995.

Today, the mission of the MAA remains little changed: to enable alumni to maintain their ties to the University and with each other, and to strengthen their commitment to support and advance 91˿Ƶ, as an apolitical, nonprofit organization dedicated to benevolence and philanthropy.

91˿Ƶ Alumni Association Board of Directors

The MAA is led by a volunteer Board of Directors who are dedicated to strengthening the global network of 91˿Ƶ graduates in support of one another and the University. The Board provides leadership to Branch associations and constituent groups and has representation on 91˿Ƶ’s Board of Governors and other University committees, who act as ambassadors for alumni and advocates of 91˿Ƶ.

In addition to its annual general meeting usually held in early Fall, the Board meets several times per year to act upon its broader goals, while Directors also serve on committees, seeing to the main business of the Board. The MAA operates on a modest budget funded by its endowment, primarily supporting alumni engagement and student initiatives both locally and globally.

The MAA deeply values its alumni volunteers. In partnership with 91˿Ƶ’s University Advancement team, volunteers are provided with professional guidance, tools, and resources to help them succeed. Volunteers play a crucial role in strengthening 91˿Ƶ’s global community and expanding its reach.
