Isabelle Gagnon, PT Fellow, PhD, Director and Associate Dean

Welcome to the School of Physical & Occupational Therapy (SPOT) at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

For ore than 80 years, our School has been dedicated to advancing rehabilitation education, science, and clinical practice in Quebec, across Canada, and around the world.

SPOT is home to a vibrant and engaged community of students, faculty, clinicians, researchers, and staff who believe deeply in the transformative power of rehabilitation. Our academic programs, including our professional Master of Science programs in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, our research‑focused MSc and PhD programs in Rehabilitation Science, and our Certificates in Driving Rehabilitation and in Chronic Pain Management, offer rigorous training supported by immersive clinical learning and meaningful partnerships with community and healthcare organizations of all kinds.

Our research community tackles important questions across the rehabilitation spectrum: mobility and participation, neurological and musculoskeletal health, pediatric injury and recovery, assistive technologies, digital innovation, health equity, and more. Through close collaboration with our clinical community and international partners, SPOT researchers generate knowledge that informs best practice, strengthens policy, and enhances access to high‑quality rehabilitation services.

As part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, SPOT benefits from an exceptional network of interdisciplinary collaborators, clinical sites, and research institutes. This environment allows us to train outstanding clinicians and scholars while contributing to the future of rehabilitation science and practice. As Director, I am deeply honoured to guide a School that has shaped my own career, having served for many years as a professor and researcher in SPOT, but also as a clinician in pediatric rehabilitation and through leadership roles across 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s clinical and research communities. This privilege continues to inspire my commitment to fostering collaboration, supporting our community, and ensuring that our mission thrives.
