MURA is an association for 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ retirees, from all sectors of the university, who were working at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ at the time of their retirement. Membership is free if your employee affiliation at the time of retirement was with a 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ staff association or union that underwrites the cost of membership in MURA for their members. Those groups are MUNACA, MUNASA, MAUT (nominal fee), and SEU 800 Trades Downtown.

Membership is not automatic - please use the link to the online membership form belowÌýto ensure that you receive all communications from MURA.ÌýIf you are a 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ retiree, and did not belong to one of these groups, the annual membership fee for 2025-26 is $30 due on September 1st of each year.

Retirees who held an academic appointment (whether they were previously a member of MAUT or not) now have the option of joint membership in MURA and the MAUT Retired Members (MAUT-RM).Ìý View MAUT-RM website.

Your partner/spouse is eligible for free associate membership that entitles them to participate in activities and events at the same price as regular members. This does not apply to the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ gym discount and associate members are not eligible to vote at the MURA annual general meeting. If your partner/spouse would like to receive communications, please provide the person's name and email address on the membership form.

Activities

MURA offers a variety of activities for its members such as cycling, book clubs, restaurant groups, golf and pickleball.

Events

MURA offers a variety of events on a regular basis:

  • Social - restaurant groups, museum visits, walking tours, virtual happy hours, etc.
  • Cultural - lectures, concerts, theatre
  • Information Sessions - on benefits, health, taxation and pension management

Membership is not automatic. Please use the online membership form to provide your affiliation at retirement and your contact information to ensure you receive communications about future events and activities. Payment instructions are below if you are paying a fee to MURA or the fee to join MAUT-RM.

Instructions for payment - MURA

If you were not a member of a group that has an agreement with MURA to underwrite the cost of membership, the annual fee is $30.

Instructions for payment - MAUT-RM

Retirees who held an academic appointment (whether they were previously a member of MAUT or not) now have the option of joint membership in MURA and the MAUT Retired Members (MAUT-RM). The membership fee for MAUT-RM is $50 for 5 years and includes membership in MURA. You may either send an Interac e-transfer for $50 to rac.maut@mcgill.ca or send a cheque, payable to MAUT Retiree Affairs Committee, at 3495 Peel St., #202, Montreal. QC H3A 1W7
