Rodin Number: 19
E Number: none

Date: unknown

The specimen shows the posterior aspect of the heart covered by a shaggy “bread and butter” fibrinopurulent exudate indicating acute pericarditis.

Comment

Details of the clinical history are not available. As with specimen No 9, this specimen’s metal support is mounted to show the posterior aspect of the heart. However, in this case, the pericardial exudate is more evident here than anteriorly, so the mounting seems appropriate. The descriptive card reference to “R.J.B.B. Dem. I., 1881” cannot be traced.
