Please note that you do NOT need any kind of modification to your IHI if you travel within Quebec as you are already covered within Quebec. Consult this page only when you are travelling outside Quebec but within Canada.

91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ's International Student Health Insurance plan can be extended at no additional cost to the eligible students. 

The coverage, called extended International Health Insurance (IHI), depends on conditions such as the purpose of travel, travel duration etc. Please follow the instructions carefully to familiarize yourselves with terminology and procedures which are important to stay covered.

Case 1: Travelling Within Canada for University Sanctioned Activities

What are University Sanctioned Activities?

University sanctioned international activities include:

  1. Curricular activities (i.e., credit or non-credit course work, exchange programs, field work, music performances and research).
  2. Or co-curricular activities (e.g. University funded internships, varsity sports) that are officially approved or endorsed by 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and for which international travel is an essential part of the activity, whether or not the student is pursuing the activity for academic credit or recognition, or receives University or third-party funding.

University sanctioned international activities exclude:

  1. Activities sponsored or organized by student clubs or associations,
  2. Activities organized solely by a student or group of students.

IHI Eligibility for University Sanctioned Activities Within Canada:

  1. You are eligible for extended healthcare benefits while travelling within Canada outside Quebec for university sanctioned activities if:
    1. You are a student registered at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, covered under 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµâ€™s International Student Health Insurance plan - contract no. 95258.
    2. You are participating in a University Sanctioned Activity in Canada but outside of the province of ²Ï³Üé²ú±ð³¦.

What is covered in the extended IHI?

The following are covered in the extended healthcare benefits:

  1. Emergency Medical Care.
  2. Basic Health and Supplementary Health benefits.
  3. Accidental Dismemberment and Repatriation.

Apply for extended IHI while Travelling Within Canada for University Sanctioned Activities:

  1. Log on to using your student email ID.
    Warning: Do not use an to login.
  2. Select Request for extended International Health Insurance (Outside Quebec in Canada).
  3. Fill all the relevant details in the form and create a ticket.

Case 2: Travelling Within Canada for Personal Reasons

The coverage for travelling within Canada for personal reasons, or "Leisure Travel", as described in the Medavie Blue Cross Handbook, is the same as your coverage in Quebec. You can get the same health benefits through IHI in any other province of Canada as you would in Quebec during leisure travel.
