Sébastien F. Bussières (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’île, 2026)

Sebastien Bussieres

Sebastien is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Before entering law school, he completed a BSW at the Université du Québec à Montréal and an MSW at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. He has experience working on issues related to mental health, homelessness, and the criminal justice system. He currently volunteers with the Mobile Legal Clinic. His academic and professional interests include medical liability, medical ethics, and the systemic barriers that affect access to and navigation of the healthcare system.Ìý

Taisha Cayard (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’île, 2026)

Taisha

Taisha is a second-year student in the joint BCL/JD and MSW program at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, with seven years of experience in social service roles within the healthcare system. She is dedicated to promoting access to justice and trauma-informed advocacy. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and a DEC in Social Service Techniques from Dawson College. At 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, Taisha serves as a Judge on the PGSS Judicial Board, Vice-President of Finance for the Women of Colour Collective, and Senior Editor at the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law & Health. She is also a recipient of the Jordan H. Waxman Entrance Scholarship for her sustained community involvement. Her interests lie in using law to address social determinants of health, and she aims to integrate law and social work to support vulnerable populations.

Marie Annie

Marie Annie is a third-year BCL/JD candidate at the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Faculty of Law. Before entering law school, she completed a DEC at Collège André-Grasset. She is actively involved in several clubs and associations at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and is currently completing a clerkship. Her areas of interest include health law, privacy/data protection and contractual obligations in general.

Tuviere Okome (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2025)

Tuviere

Tuviere is a 2nd year BCL/JD candidate at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Faculty of Law, where she serves as the President of the Black Law Students Association. Tuviere holds an MSc in Epidemiology from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, where she was awarded the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship for academic excellence. She also hold a BA in Environmental Studies (First-class honors, Distinction) from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Professionally, Tuviere has interned at the Jewish General Hospital, focusing on mental health law and patient rights, and at the HIV Legal Network, conducting research on harm reduction and drug policy. They have also worked on climate change legal research in Calabar, Nigeria, exploring how indigenous governance systems can inform future legal frameworks in the context of ecological collapse.

Shania Dalili (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2025)
Shania

Shania is a third-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Prior to law school, she completed a DEC in Law and Civilization with Mathematics at Champlain College. She has previously been involved with the Legal Information Clinic at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and the Women of Colour Collective. She also volunteered as a pro bono researcher with the Center for Research-Action on Race Relations, a contribution that earned her the Chief Justice Richard Wagner Award. Over the past year, she completed a clerkship at the Court of Québec (Civil Division) and represented her faculty at the Laskin Moot. She is particularly interested in medical liability and issues related to a person’s consent to healthcare.

Alycia Noë (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2023)

Alycia is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Prior to law school, she obtained a PhD in Biology from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, where she studied the impacts of oxygen metabolism on mouse skeletal muscles. She is currently a senior editor for the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health and an executive team member for the LEX Outreach Program. She also sits of the board of and helped found the Montréal Restaurant Workers Relief Fund. Her interests include the intersection of healthcare and the law and issues of access to medications and treatments.


Olivia Wawin (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2023)

Olivia Wawin is a second-year student at the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Faculty of Law. Prior to attending law school, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Economics from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. She has previously been involved with the Legal Information Clinic at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and is currently a junior editor with the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health, as well as a Pro Bono Students Canada volunteer with Project Genesis. Her interests include the intersection of human rights and health law (in particular, reproductive rights, criminal justice, and equality rights).


Rania Hamdine (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2022)

Rania is a third-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, where she has been involved in the Legal Information Clinic at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, Lawyers Without Boarders, as well as the LEX program. Before her legal studies, she completed a DEC in Health Sciences at Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf. Following her work experience at the Fédération des Médecins Spécialistes du Québec, she is interested in the ways healthcare and legal systems may intersect to benefit one another.


Marguerite Rolland (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2022)

Marguerite is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and holds a BA (with Great Distinction) in Linguistics and History from Concordia, as well as a DEC in Paralegal Technology from O’Sullivan College. She is currently a research assistant to professor Lara Khoury, Ad. E. working on the topics of artificial intelligence, civil liability, and health. While in law school, Marguerite has had the opportunity to work in a Montreal law firm specializing in property law, in addition to the Canadian Competition Bureau. Marguerite has also volunteered with the Legal Information Clinic at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, and sits on the board of the ecological and environmental society of Côte-des-Neiges (SOCENV).


Johanna Cline (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2021)

Johanna is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and holds a BA in Honours Philosophy (91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ). Her areas of interest include access to justice, human rights and the intersection and law and health. She currently works as a Senior Editor at the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health and volunteers at LEX 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. This past summer, Johanna interned at Lawyers Without Borders in Québec City and has previously worked as a research assistant at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ on topics related to discrimination and feminist philosophy.


Osayma Saad (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2021)

Osayma is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, and is currently doing a minor in computer science. She previously completed a DEC in sciences at John Abbott College, and has been passionate about issues revolving healthcare since she began her post-secondary studies. She is the Vice-President of Internal Affairs of the Law Students’ Association for the 2021-2022 term.


Kayla Míguez (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2021)

Kayla is a third-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, and holds a BSc and MSc in Muscle Physiology/ Kinesiology (91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ). She is currently a Student Coordinator for the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Research Group on Health and Law, a Legal Research Assistant at UBC working on the topic of rural access to health care, and a Tutorial Leader for a first-year course in the Faculty of Law at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. While in law school, she has also interned with the O’Neill Institute for National & Global Health Law at Georgetown Law in Washington, DC, and has been involved with the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health and the Mile End Legal Clinic.


Laura Fernz (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2021)

Laura is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. She has been involved with the Legal Information Clinic at Mcgill, the LEX program, the Canadian Journal of Law and Justice, as well as the Women of Colour Collective. She is interested in issues relating to access to justice, and how the law and health intersect.


Kirstie Russell (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2020)

Kirstie, a third-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, is passionate about issues at the intersection of law and health. Prior to law school, she obtained a Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Toronto, where she primarily worked in quality improvement in health care from both a research and practice perspective. While in law school, Kirstie interned at the Centre for Health, Human Rights and Development in Uganda, volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and worked as a junior editor for the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health. In her final year of law school, she is working as a caseworker at Compass Startup Legal Clinic and clerking at the Montréal Municipal Court.


Lauren Manoukian (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2020)

Lauren is a third-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, having completed a B.A. in Psychology at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ in 2018. She is the Senior Managing Editor of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health and the Director of Client Services for Compass Startup Legal Clinic.


Linda Zhang (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2020)

Linda is a third-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, with a minor in management. She is passionate about issues surrounding access to care and has been involved with the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health, the Hive Center for Gender Advocacy, and the Conseil québécois LGBT.


Raoul Wieland (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, 2020)

Raoul is in his last year of the M.S.W. and B.C.L./J.D. program at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. He is interested in learning about the impact of law in the lives of people, how people perceive law, and understanding how law intersects with health, health policy, and the equitable provision of social services.


Catherine Labasi-Sammartino (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Ile-de-Montréal, 2019)

Catherine is a second year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ with a BSc. in Psychology and a Minor in the Social Studies of Medicine from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. She is the Senior Managing Editor of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health and is a volunteer for the Mobile Legal Clinic.


Souhila Baba (CIUSS Centre-Ouest-de-l’Ile-de-Montréal, 2018)

Souhila is a second-year student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ's Faculty of Law. She holds a B.Sc with distinction in Psychology with a minor in Political Science from Concordia University. She is involved with the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Journal of Law and Health, the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Business Law Association, the Women of Colour Collective and #LNFB. She also volunteers with the Legal Information Clinic at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Since joining the Faculty, she has been able to expand her interests in policy, health, science and the law, and the important contributions women make to these fields and their intersections.


Anna Kirk (CHU Sainte Justine, 2018)

Anna is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Anna is also the coordinator of ProBono Students Canada’s Will Project and a research assistant for Me Toteda.


Vincent Marquis (Institut Philippe-Pinel de Montréal, 2018)

Vincent is a second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, and holds a B.A. in Art History and Philosophy from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ and an M.A. in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art. Vincent is on the Editorial Board of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Law Journal and volunteers at the Mobile Legal Clinic.


Véronique Saad (CHU Sainte Justine, 2017)

Véronique est une étudiante de troisième année à la Faculté de droit de 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ.

C'est en travaillant comme assistante de recherche pour Prof. Khoury et comme stagiaire à la Coalition des organismes communautaires québécois pour la lutte contre le sida que son intérêt pour le droit médical s'est confirmé.Ìý


ÌýJonathan Deschamps (CUSM, 2017)Ìý

Jonathan est étudiant en deuxième année à la Faculté de droit de l’Université 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ et est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en Études internationales de l’Université de Montréal.Ìý

Il a été assistant de recherche pour le doyen Robert Leckey en droit de la famille. Il a aussi travaillé au sein de l’Agence des services frontaliers du Canada en plus de faire partie de la Mission permanente du Canada auprès de l’Organisation de l’aviation civile internationale. Il a cofondé la Société des Jeunes Philanthropes de Montréal et s’implique au sein de sa communauté.Ìý


Jennyfer Pelletier (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2016)

Jennyfer Pelletier était étudiante en troisième année de droit à 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ quand elle a effectué son stage.

C’est en poursuivant un baccalauréat en Microbiologie et Immunologie à 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ que son intérêt au droit de la santé s’est manifesté.

Pendant ses études, elle a fait partie de la Revue de Droit et Santé de 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ et a fait du bénévolat à la Clinique d’Information Juridique de 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ.


Hannah Geis (CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’île-de-Montréal, 2016)

Hannah was second-year law student at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ during her internship. She also holds a BSc. inÌýHistory and International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Before starting law school, Hannah spent nine months in Colombia, where she worked as an intern with Transparency International and conducted research on truth and reconciliation commissions at the International Center for Transitional Justice.Ìý


Marie-Pier Caza est une étudiante de 3e année à la Faculté de droit de l’Université 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ. Marie-Pier Caza (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2014-2015)

Durant ses études, elle a intégré l’équipe du contentieux de Bombardier Aéronautique et a été bénévole à la Clinique d’information juridique à 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ.

Elle a effectué un stage d’étude clinique chez Éducaloi, en plus de son stage au sein du bureau des affaires juridiques du CHU Sainte-Justine, sous la supervision de Me Nathalie Lecoq.


ÌýMaryam D’Hellencourt (Centre jeunesse de Montréal, 2014-2015)

Maryam d'Hellencourt est étudiante en deuxième année de droit à 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ.

Avant d'étudier à 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, elle a travaillé pendant trois ans en tant que chargée de dossier pour Enfant-Retour Québec notamment dans des dossiers de fugues et d'enlèvements parentaux. Elle s'intéresse particulièrement à l'impact du droit sur les groupes vulnérables et marginalisés.

Elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise de Droit international et droits humains de l'Université pour la paix des nations unies (Costa Rica), puis d'une Maîtrise en sociologie de l'École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociale (France); son mémoire de recherche s'est fondé sur une étude de terrain de la jeunesse urbaine de Kaboul au sein de UN-Habitat en Afghanistan.


ÌýConstance Deschênes-St-Pierre (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2013-2014)

Étudiante de troisième année à la Faculté de droit de 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ à l'époque, Mme Deschênes-St-Pierre a un intérêt marqué pour le droit de la santé qui s’est confirmé grâce autant à ses cours de droit que d'anthropologie médicale, ainsi que par son expérience du milieu hospitalier comme stagiaire au bureau de l'ombudsman du CUSM.

Elle a entrepris ce stage avec Me Nathalie Lecoq au CHU Ste-Justine en janvier 2014.


Alexandra Olshefsky (Douglas Mental Health University Institute, 2013-2014)

Alexandra was in her third year of Law when she participated in this internship. She is particularly interested in the impact the criminal justice system has on marginalized communities. She also completed a human rights internship with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, and clerked under Justice Brière, who sits on the Municipal Court's programme d'accompagnement justice-santé mentale.

A former crisis intervention worker, she also participated in a legal clinic course with Dans la Rue.

Her internship at the Douglas was completed under the supervision of Dr Anne Crocker.


Lil Kraus (CHU Sainte-Justine, 2012-2013)

Thanks to the support of the Research Group on Health and Law, Ms. Lil Kraus undertook an internship during the Winter term 2013 with Me Nathalie Lecoq, Senior legal counsel at CHU Sainte-Justine.
