AI. Quality improvement. Healthcare transformation. Leadership.

Last Tuesday's High Value Healthcare Symposium covered a lot of ground. One of the nicest parts of the day was seeing so many graduate students and trainees take the stage alongside their supervisors. Between the presentations, posters, and Abstract Slam, attendees were treated to a wide range of research, innovations, and perspectives on improving healthcare.

Dauphinee Lecturer Prof. Lee Chien Earn posed a different challenge: once we know what needs to change, how do we inspire people to be part of it? He argued that people rarely commit to change because they are told to. Change can be understandable and manageable yet still fail to gain momentum if people do not find it meaningful. As he put it, “leadership is the art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for shared aspirations.”

If you missed any of the discussions throughout the day, a recording of the symposium is available here.

A final congratulations to Abstract Slam winner Maxine Noik for her presentation on AI-Generated Daily Care Plans for Family Members of Cardiac ICU Patients, and thank you to all presenters who shared their work.
