Policy on Accommodation

If you have a disability or a medical condition that may affect your ability to undertake the Virtual Multiple Mini-Interviews (MMI), please refer to our instructions below to request special accommodation. Documentation from a healthcare professional and university/CEGEP disability accommodation service will be required.

  1. YOUR REQUEST TO OBTAIN ACCOMMODATIONS

    Any applicant with functional limitation(s) or learning needs who wishes to obtain accommodations at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ for undergraduate Dental Medicine admissions interviews must submit a request and supporting documentation viaÌýthe link included in their interview invitation or interview waitlist notification.

    By submitting a request, the applicant authorizes Faculty 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ staff to consult any relevant party (including 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Student Accessibility andÌýAchievement representatives, healthcare professionals, or other experts) and to perform all necessary verifications for the study and analysis of their request. Only requests submitted using the prescribed formÌýwill be considered.

    To support their request, the applicant must also provide all supporting documents that include details of any previously approved accommodations.

    The applicant must submit their accommodation request and supporting documents by the date indicated in their interview invitation or interview waitlist notification letter.ÌýThis is typically within 3 days of receiving your invitation or notification, so it is recommended to start preparing your request when you first apply.ÌýFailure to meet this deadline will result in the accommodation request not being considered.

    Note that these accommodations do not automatically apply to the educational curriculum of the program. Admitted students are responsible for registering with 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Student Accessibility and Achievement to request academic accommodations prior to beginning the program.Ìý

  2. OUR STUDY OF THE REQUEST

    Once weÌýconfirmÌýthe accommodation request is complete, weÌýproceed to the analysis. When necessary, we may consult any relevant party (including 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵÌýStudent Accessibility & AchievementÌýrepresentatives, healthcare professionals, or other experts).

    When evaluating an accommodation request, the Faculty ensures that yourÌýsupporting documents contain all the information needed to study the request, that the condition justifying accommodations still persists, that the requested accommodations are justified in the context of the MMI, and that the Faculty can provide the requested or alternative accommodations.

    If needed, authorized Faculty 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Office staff and, in some cases, 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Student Accessibility andÌýAchievement staff may communicate with you to:

    • Ask you to specify your needs;
    • Discuss possible accommodations;
    • Clarify health specialist recommendations relevant to your situation;
    • Inform you of missing elements in your request;
    • Guide you on the steps necessary to enable their continued study of your request.

    To complete their study of yourÌýrequest, the authorized Faculty Admission staffÌýor representatives ofÌý91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Student Accessibility & Achievement may communicate with you to:

    • Request additional supporting documentation if the provided documents are incomplete;
    • Request updated documentation if your situation may have changed since your previous accommodation request at the University or Faculty, or since the issuance of your supporting documentation;
    • Request a report or evaluation signed by an expert when a specific diagnosis or professional judgment is needed;
    • Seek a second opinion if deemed necessary upon receipt of your documents;
    • Request additional documentation if you ask to modify accommodations already in place.

Once their study of your request is complete, you will receive an email confirmation of the accommodations that will be implemented or notification of the refusal, as the case may be. Applicants with approved accommodations will have a checklist item added to their applicant portal, where they must upload their signed letter of accommodation.

Unless otherwise indicated, you will benefit from these accommodations for all scheduled vMMI sessions. Candidates invited to interview in future cycles requesting accommodations again can indicate on the form if their documents are still the same; if yes, then the request will be reviewed with the same conditions.

The Faculty 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Office is responsible for ensuring that accommodations are implemented during the interview process.

Where necessary and with your consent, they may inform vMMI interviewers of your specific accommodations and needs.

All requests are handled confidentially and in compliance with applicable privacy laws. The decision is digitally recorded and stored on 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s secure server. Only information necessary to implement accommodations is shared, and only with those who require it to perform their role in applying accommodations. Information is transmitted in a way which preserves confidentiality. Recipients of personal information are also bound by confidentiality. Your personal information is processed according to theÌý91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Privacy Notice.
