SCS Bursaries

Thanks to donor contributions, the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ School of Continuing Studies offers a limited number of need-based awards to learners in credit programs who demonstrate a financial need to assist them in covering a portion of their tuition expenses.

Who is eligible? 

  • You must be a full-time or part-time student, admitted to and registered in a credit program at the School of Continuing Studies (students from other 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ faculties and independent students at SCS are not eligible)
  • You must be registered in at least one 3-credit course in the program in the upcoming term
  • You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a refugee (students who were refugees within the last 5 years can apply)
  • You must be able to receive funds through an active student account on Minerva
  • You must not be a student who is in unsatisfactory academic standing

How to Apply

  1. Application Periods

    Fall semester: June 1st to August 31st

    Winter semester: October 1st to December 31st

  2. Submit your online application

  3. Look out for an email with your decision

    Applicants selected to receive a bursary will be notified via their 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ student email approximately 2 - 3 weeks after the application period. All applicants will be informed of the outcome, regardless of the decision.

  4. Receive your funds

    Deposits are made after the Withdrawal Period (No Refund) deadline. If you withdraw from your courses or program, the funds will not be issued.


Terms and conditions

  • Bursaries are intended as a partial support for tuition expenses.
  • Bursary funds are limited, and there is no guarantee that you will receive the bursary that you apply for.
  • The School of Continuing Studies determines how and when bursaries are issued, as well as amounts awarded, which may vary based on donor funding.
  • You may submit only one application per term.
  • You will be considered for all bursaries for which you are eligible.
  • You may only receive one bursary in a particular term.
  • After receiving a bursary, you may still be eligible to apply for and receive bursaries in subsequent terms.
  • The total bursary payment will not exceed $1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred dollars) per student over a 12-month period.
  • The School of Continuing Studies reserves the right to verify the information provided on the application. Inconsistencies may result in a reassessment or cancellation of the applicant's award.
  • If a student is selected to receive a bursary but withdraws from their courses or program before the time of disbursement, the bursary may be revoked.
  • Students who are employees of 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ must disclose that they are employed by the university. Employees eligible for Employee Tuition Assistance are not eligible for need-based awards.
  • Receiving a need-based award has no impact on the eligibility or assessment of other student awards, such as merit-based awards and convocation awards.

The following bursaries are available with varying amounts ranging from $500 to $1,500, depending on funds for the term (some may only be available for specific terms):
