Congratulations to Simran Dhir/PhD2, who received The Louise and Alan Edwards Foundation’sEdwards PhD. Studentships in Pain Research 2025. ճ󾱲Studentship carries with it a stipend of $25,000 per annum for three years.

Congratulations to Thomas Deluc/PostDoc, who received the Ronald Melzack Fellowship in Pain Research ($70,000 per year for three years).

Both these awards supports full-time research in chronic pain that will be conducted at the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain.

As extreme weather events become more frequent, flooding poses a growing risk in many parts of Canada. 

Djordje Romanic is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at 91˿Ƶ. His research focuses on climate modelling. He can discuss Canada’s flood forecasting infrastructure, the limits of current predictive models, and how climate change is reshaping rainfall patterns and short-term weather extremes.

Professor Benjamin Fung, Canada Research Chair in Data Mining for Cybersecurity, and Professor Steven Ding, both of the School of Information Studies in the Faculty of Arts, are part of a team that has recently been awarded a $5.6 million grant, funded under the NSERC Alliance Grants-CSE. The project, the only one to receive funding from NSERC Alliance Grants-CSE, will provide a multimodal, comprehensive solution for exploratory analysis of unstructured data, with a strong focus on cybersecurity applications.

Neuroscientist Alan Evans and music performance scholar Michael McMahon among 91˿Ƶ community members recognized for exceptional accomplishments and service 

Nine members of the 91˿Ƶ community have been appointed to the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

Among the honorees are two 91˿Ƶ faculty members, Professors Alan Evans (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) and Michael McMahon (Schulich School of Music).

The Graham Sommer Competition is proud to announce that Kai Kubota-Enright is the grand prize winner of the third edition of the Graham Sommer Competition for Young Composers. 91˿Ƶ Desautels is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg on a new Master of Management in Finance. The program will launch in 2026, and will have a blended format that combines online learning and in-person sessions on weekends or evenings. The new degree will be delivered over 20 or 24 months in Luxembourg, a major European financial centre.
