As a CEGEP student, Daniel Wei captained his college robotics team to victories with a dodgeball-throwing robot and a biodegradable soil sensor for farmers. 

He and a peer also earned a bronze medal at a science and technology fair for their research on biomechanical processes involved in developing artificial intestines.

The achievements are part of Wei’s impressive track record of leadership, innovation and academic success that landed him Canada’s most generous scholarship for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Gaslighting could happen to anyone who trusts the wrong person, a 91˿Ƶ researcher says.

Willis Klein, a PhD candidate in the Department of Psychology, was part of a team from 91˿Ƶ and the University of Toronto that developed a new theoretical model with which to understand how manipulators are able to make their targets question their sense of reality over a period of time.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Danielle Groleau as the new Director of the Department of Psychiatry’s Graduate Program, effective September 1, 2025. Dr. Groleau has served as Associate Director of the Graduate Program for nearly 10 years, and we are confident she will excel in this new leadership role.

Four major space telescopes have confirmed unusual findings about a rare interstellar comet, 3I/ATLAS.

Astronomers using the Hubble, SPHEREx, James Webb and TESS telescopes report that the comet’s early activity and surprising chemical makeup suggest it may have formed in a planetary system very different from our own. Some researchers believe that interstellar objects like 3I/ATLAS could even play a role in planet formation when captured by young star systems.

The comet is the oldest ever recorded and one of only three known to have originated beyond our solar system.
