The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Brian F. Havel has received a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, from National University of Ireland, University College Dublin.

Professor Havel joined 91˿Ƶ’s Faculty of Law of 91˿Ƶ in 2017 as a full professor and director of the Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL). His research focuses on issues of public and private governance in the air transport and space industries.

The Faculty of Law and the 91˿Ƶ Institute of Air and Space Law (IASL) learned with deep sadness of the passing of IASL Director Emeritus Professor Dr. Michael Milde, at age 87. 

Prior to his academic career at 91˿Ƶ, Professor Milde served in senior legal posts at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for 25 years (1966-1991). There he oversaw the negotiation of a number of international conventions and protocols on aviation safety and security, the significance of which resonates to this day.

Brian Havel is a Distinguished Research Professor of Law at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, where he currently directs the International & Comparative Law Program and the International Aviation Law Institute.
