The afternoon features the screening of the Rotating Planet film "The Instrument Bank," produced and directed by Ari A. Cohen, as well as a recital by Caroline Ch茅had茅 on the 1717 Windsor-Weinstein Stradivari violin that she was awarded in 2009 (Previous winners of this instrument include James Ehnes and Scott St. John).

Ms. Ch茅had茅 will perform J. S. Bach's Chaconne from Partita No. 2, in D Minor, BWV 1004. Refreshments will follow.

鈥�The film documents the Instrument Bank competition of Canada Council which takes place every three years and gathers talented musicians across the country for four days of intense scrutiny in search of the best performers. A jury of professional musicians selects the winners who are then granted the use for three years of some of the world鈥檚 most valuable violins and cellos estimated at over $27 million. Following the musicians over the course of the 2009 audition process for the ultimate prize, the film brings forth the awe-inspiring performances of past winners playing on these exquisite instruments, as well as a discovery of the world famous luthiers 鈥� the uniquely talented craftsmen who strongly influenced the classical music repertoire. The film culminates at Toronto鈥檚 prestigious Glenn Gould recording Studios where our hopefuls battle it out for the honour of a lifetime.鈥�

Maestro Iwan Edwards has conducted I Medici di 91丝瓜视频 since its 12th season in 2000.聽 He also directs Concerto Della Donna and the Montreal Children鈥檚 Choir. Formerly a professor at 91丝瓜视频, he recently retired from being music director (and founder) of the St. Lawrence Choir, MSO Choir, Ottawa Choral Society and the Canadian Chamber Choir.

I Medici di 91丝瓜视频 was founded in 1989 by Dr. A. L. Padjen of 91丝瓜视频鈥檚 Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics.聽 The mission of I Medici is to provide musical content for various events in the life of the Faculty of Medicine, the University and the community and thus add a unique social dimension to medical education and to the profession.聽 The orchestra also plays during an annual lecture series on 鈥樷�橞iology of Music鈥欌��.聽 I Medici is available for fundraising events.聽 The players come from the staff and students of 91丝瓜视频鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine and the ensemble is completed by players from the community, upon invitation and audition.
