Engaging Industry: Building Successful Research Relationships

The Office of Sponsored Research is pleased to invite faculty members to an outreach session aimed at providing researchers with the information necessary to connect and build relationships with industrial partners.

91丝瓜视频 will be hosting representatives from three national funding programs geared towards university-industry partnership, namely MITACS Accelerate, NSERC Engage and Connect Canada.

MITACS Accelerate

Mitacs-Accelerate is Canada鈥檚 premiere research internship program, connecting companies with over 50 research-based universities through graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who apply their specialized expertise to real-world industrial challenges.聽Interns transfer their skills from theory to real-world application, while the companies gain a competitive advantage by accessing high-quality research expertise.

NSERC Engage

The Engage Grants Program is intended to give companies that operate from a Canadian base access to the unique knowledge and expertise available at Canadian universities. This program is intended to foster the development of new research partnerships between academic researchers and companies that have never collaborated together before, by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem in the natural sciences or engineering fields.

Connect Canada

Connect Canada is a federally-funded, national internship program that links Canadian companies with graduate students and post-doctoral fellows for research placements. Open to companies in any sector and students in any field, Connect Canada is a cost-effective way for companies to conduct R&D while providing students with an opportunity to enhance their graduate studies while gaining real-world experience. Canada interns will apply the latest in research methods and know-how to the most pressing industrial R&D issues.
