Integrating academic research into primate conservation: insights from Uganda

Dr. Jessica Rothman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Hunter College of the City University of New York, and an Honorary Lecturer at Makerere University in Uganda .

Prior to her current positions, she was a postdoctoral fellow at 91丝瓜视频. She obtained her PhD in 2006 and an MS in 2002 in Animal Nutrition at Cornell University. In addition, she serves as an advisor to the Research and Monitoring Unit of the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the government authority that manages protected areas in Uganda, and is on the Scientific Advisory Board of Conservation Through Public Health, a Ugandan based NGO. Her research focuses on the nutrition, ecology and conservation of mountain gorillas and forest monkeys in Uganda, where she has worked for over 13 years to understand how primates meet their nutritional needs under a variety of environmental, physiological and social constraints.
