The Merchant of Venice

Wednesday, March 28, 2007 20:00to22:15
Arts Building 853 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0G5, CA
Possibly Shakespeare's most controversial play, a tale of power and risk, of prejudice and revenge, in which appeals for mercy and justice largely go unheard. The relationship between the play's production and the work of the Shakespeare and Performance Research Team has been an essential part of the development of the piece, with a series of mini-conferences, presentations and workshops throughout the year. The Friends of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Library present "Shakespeare and the Jews," a symposium, Thursday, March 29, 5 pm, in Moyse Hall. Panelists: Gareth Armstrong, former member, Royal Shakespeare Company; Kenneth Gross, literary scholar and critic. Full details on website (below). $10 adults; $5 students, seniors and groups
