Dr. Sylvie H茅bert will discuss tinnitus, a prevalent hearing disorder that can be debilitating to some individuals. She will discuss some current neuroscientific models of tinnitus, and will show, more specifically, that hearing damage is a necessary but not sufficient condition for tinnitus to appear, and that factors that have always been seen as a consequence of tinnitus might in fact turn out to be predisposing factors.
