Since 1995, the 91丝瓜视频 Institute for the Study of Canada has hosted large-scale annual conferences which foster informed, non-partisan discussions of issues affecting Canadians, ranging from Quebec-Canada relations, Aboriginal issues, citizenship and health-care to Canadian media, the Charter, and cultural policy.

For our 2009 annual conference, we turn our focus to crucial issues associated with public policy in Canada. This conference will bring together academics and practitioners to address the influence of public opinion and mass media on the policy-making process, the role of evidence based research, the influence of non-governmental actors, and how policy-making decisions are made in a time of crisis. Ultimately, the objective of this conference will be to bring an interdisciplinary perspective to bear on the processes and players that impact and shape public policy in Canada.
