 hosted large-scale annual conferences which foster informed\,\nnon-partisa
 n discussions of issues affecting Canadians\, ranging\nfrom Quebec-Canada 
 relations\, Aboriginal issues\, citizenship and\nhealth-care to Canadian m
 edia\, the Charter\, and cultural\npolicy.\nFor our 2009 annual conference
 \, we turn our focus to crucial\nissues associated with public policy in C
 anada. This conference\nwill bring together academics and practitioners to
  address the\ninfluence of public opinion and mass media on the policy-mak
 ing\nprocess\, the role of evidence based research\, the influence of\nnon
 -governmental actors\, and how policy-making decisions are made\nin a time
  of crisis. Ultimately\, the objective of this conference\nwill be to brin
 g an interdisciplinary perspective to bear on the\nprocesses and players t
 hat impact and shape public policy in\nCanada.\n
