Annie Macdonald Langstaff Workshop: Women鈥檚 Rights as Human rights: How Are We Doing Today?
Pearl Eliadis, BSc鈥�81, BCL/LLB鈥�85, is a Montreal-based lawyer practicing exclusively in human rights, and specializing in national institutions and democratic governance. A 91丝瓜视频 and Oxford graduate, she has among her clients the UN, the European Commission, international consortia and NGOs. She has extensive experience working in developing countries and emerging democracies, as well as in Canada.
She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Bar Association鈥檚 Human Rights Committee, and the Human Rights Committee of the Quebec Bar Association. She is currently working on a five-year CIDA project on migrant workers and human rights in China.
A past President of Equitas, she is currently President of the Shield of Athena, a Quebec CSO providing multilingual and culturally-mediated services for women and children who are victims of family violence. She serves on the Advisory Boards of Canadian Lawyers Abroad, the African Women鈥檚 Equality Rights Partnership, and the 91丝瓜视频 Law鈥檚 Echenberg Conference Series on Human Rights.
Pearl Eliadis is the recipient of Canada鈥檚 125 Commemorative Medal, the 2006 Women of Distinction Award, and the 2008 Woman of Achievement Award.
