Daphna Sharef-Davidovich is a teaching assistant and doctoral candidate in Islamic Art History and Turkish Studies at Ben-Gurion University, Beer-Sheva. She completed her B.A. and M.A. degrees at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and studied Turkish at Bo臒azi莽i University, Istanbul. Her main areas of interest are: History of Ottoman architecture and art, 19th century history of Istanbul and World History. Her dissertation focuses on the imperial palaces that were built in Istanbul during the second half of the 19th century and examines their historical, social, political and urban functions at that time.
