122 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ research projects awarded $30 million in NSERC Discovery Grants funding

Funding supports bold ideas across natural sciences and engineering disciplines at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ, in fields ranging from ophthalmology and physics to music research and electrical engineering.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded 122 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ research projects funding from its Discovery Grants competition for a total investment of $30 million.ÌýÌý

The Discovery Grants program is NSERC's largest and longest-standing program. Discovery Grants support ongoing projects with long-term goals, providing researchers with the flexibility to explore the most promising avenues of research as they emerge.Ìý

The funding Ìýby the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions along with Karim Bardeesy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry, and Dominique O’Rourke, Member of Parliament for Guelph, as part of a suite of investments in discovery and applied research totaling $630 million.Ìý

Researchers in the following faculties received Discovery Grants funding: Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Schulich School of Music, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences, Desautels Faculty of Management, and the Faculty of Arts.Ìý
