For Referring Providers

The High-Risk Breast Clinic (HRBC) provides assessment and follow-up for patients at increased risk of breast cancer. The clinic is based within the Stroll Family Cancer Prevention Centre, located within the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal, Québec.

Indications for referral (examples)

  • Atypical breast lesions (e.g., LCIS, ALH, ADH, other high-risk pathology)
  • Chest wall radiation prior to age 30
  • Known pathogenic variant in a breast cancer susceptibility gene (e.g., BRCA1/2, PALB2, TP53, etc.)
  • Strong family history and/or elevated calculated lifetime risk using validated models

What to include with the referral

  • Reason for referral and key risk factors
  • Relevant pathology reports (especially for atypia/LCIS)
  • Most recent breast imaging reports (mammogram/ultrasound/MRI)
  • Genetic test results (if available)

Wait times

Referrals are reviewed and prioritized based on urgency and clinic capacity. Typical wait times may range from 6 months to 1 year.
