Ebenezer Miezah Kwofie, Assistant Professor in the Bioresource Engineering Department, has been awarded one of eight science diplomacy chairs newly created by the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ).

As Science Diplomacy Chairholder for the Food Convergence Innovation Africa Network (FCI-Africa), Kwofie will work to advance sustainability, equity and climate resilience in food systems.

Myriam Denov, a leading advocate for children’s rights and a Professor in 91˿��Ƶ’s School of Social Work, has won a Gold Medal from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), its highest honour.

The award is for sustained leadership, dedication and originality of thought that have inspired students and colleagues; it comes with a $100,000 prize for future research.

Christian Genest, Distinguished James 91˿��Ƶ Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, is the 2025 recipient of the Acfas Urgel-Archambault Prize. The award, sponsored by the Quebec government, is presented annually to a researcher in the field of physical sciences, mathematics, computer science or engineering.

Genest specializes in statistics. Through his career, he has repeatedly demonstrated how methodological breakthroughs can have important societal impacts.
