In October, Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) Director Lynne McVey, accompanied by Prof. YiQing Lü, spent several days as guests of Nanjing Medical University (NMU) in China, exploring future collaborations to benefit both schools of nursing. In particular, the discussions focused on nursing and other research exchanges, with an eye towards recruiting doctoral students to the ISoN.

Congratulations to the eight Ingram School of Nursing graduate students who have been awarded bursaries from the Bureau de cooperation inter-universitaire. Master's students ($25,000 each): Olivia di Lalla, Lara Humes Doucet, Talia Myers, Claire Wamboldt. Doctoral students ($40,000 each): Jade Desforges, Meagan Mooney, Alissa Moore, Marie-Eve Perron. Assistant Professor Irene Sarasua, who is pursuing her PhD, also received a bursary.

Josée Bonneau receives national award for accreditation reviewer excellence

Josée Bonneau’s distinguished career as a nurse educator was recognized on November 17, 2025 when she received the Wendy McBride Award for Accreditation Reviewer Excellence from the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). In assessing nursing education programs against CASN’s rigorous accreditation standards, the role of the reviewer is critical to promoting excellence in nursing education and to ensuring the credibility of the accreditation process.

Kimani Daniel wins two leadership awards

October was a banner month for Ingram School of Nursing Assistant Professor Kimani Daniel, whose leadership as a nurse educator and as a role model in Canada’s Black community was recognized with two separate awards.

Flu Vaccination Clinic a huge success

In collaboration with the Student Wellness Hub (SWH), the 91˿��Ƶ Vascular Access Student Club (VASC) organized a flu vaccination clinic at the Ingram School of Nursing on November 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants were able to book their appointment in advance, and due to the ongoing STM strike, walk-ins were also accepted to accommodate those facing transportation challenges.

Participating in the modernization of Quebec’s CEGEP nursing program

For Assistant Professor Annie Chevrier, participating as an appointed university representative on a committee tasked with modernizing the CEGEP nursing program has been a humbling and gratifying experience. “From January to May 2024, we conducted focus groups with 160 nurses across Quebec and heard stories of remarkable resilience and adaptation,” she reports.

From Scotland to Montreal

Thanks to Associate Professor Norma Ponzoni, the Ingram School of Nursing hosted Victoria Campbell during her study trip abroad funded by the Scottish Quality Safety Fellowship.

As a clinical academic with the National Health Service in Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Scotland, Campbell conducts research on the utilization of physician and senior nurse practitioner clinical expertise in specialist areas, with the goal of educating and sustaining the clinical nurse specialist workforce of the future, while strengthening partnerships between universities and health boards.
