2025 - 2026 Wirth Vocal Prize Semifinalists

The Wirth Vocal Prizeforvocal performance wasestablishedin 2015 through the extraordinary generosity of Elizabeth Wirth to the Schulich School of Music of 91˿Ƶ, along with new Student Excellence Awards, and an innovative Student Initiatives Fund. Awarded yearly since itsinception, the Wirth Vocal Prize recognizes a voice student whodemonstratesexceptional talent and significant promise for an international career.

2025 - 2026 Golden Violin Award Semi-Finalists

The Golden Violin Award was established in 2006 by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich, a year after he donated $20 million to 91˿Ƶ’s Schulich School of Music. Made of pewter and gold plate, the Golden Violin remains on permanent display in 91˿Ƶ’s Marvin Duchow Music Library. This year marks the monumental 20th edition of the Golden Violin Award.

Associate Professor Philippe Leroux Awarded Orchesterpreis for new work Paris, Banlieue at 2025 Donaueschinger Musiktage

Philippe Leroux, composer and associate professor in Music Research at the Schulich School of Music, has been awarded the 2025 Donaueschinger Musiktage Orchesterpreis (Orchestra Prize) for his new work Paris, Banlieue. In his composition, Leroux addresses the web of relationships between central Paris and its suburbs—especially with regard to the movements of people triggered by their daily work.

Two exceptional doctoral candidates from 91˿Ƶ's Schulich School of Music, Joseph Chang (DMus) and Jonathan Munro (DMus), have been awarded the prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarshipin recognition of their innovative research.This award provides up to $50,000 per year for up to three years, supporting outstanding students
