Through works by Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, Marie-Claire Saindon, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Abbie Betinis, Christopher Ducasse, and Sydney Guillaume, along with several arrangements inspired by folk and popular traditions, this programme reflects on some of humanity’s most enduring questions: beauty, the passage of time, memory, light, and hope.

At the heart of the programme, Brahms’s Schicksalslied, a profound meditation on human destiny, framed by works that evoke natural cycles, nocturnal landscapes, dreaming, and love. This concert weaves connections between European and North American musical traditions — between classical repertoire and popular heritage—ultimately leading to works deeply rooted in the collective memory of Francophone communites, such as Quand les hommes vivront d’amour.

Carried by the expressive richness and luminous sound of the Schulich Singers, under the direction of Jean-Sébastien Vallée, this programme offers a journey that is at once intimate and universal—one that celebrates the fragile, radiant beauty of the human experience.
