Peter Metrakos, Rima Slim and Don Vinh are among 12 Quebec researchers funded through the Genomics Integration Program in Human Health to advance precision medicine

Three researchers from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) and the Research Institute of the 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Health Centre (The Institute) have been awarded funding through Génome Québec’s fifth Genomics Integration Program in Human Health, which is investing over $4.3 million in 12 innovative projects across Quebec to advance genomic solutions in precision medicine.

The FMHS recipients are:

  • , in partnership with Roche Diagnostics, for a project using digital PCR to improve care for colorectal cancer patients with liver metastases. Dr. Metrakos is Professor, Department of Surgery, 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, and Senior Scientist in the  at The Institute.
  • , in partnership with OPTILAB MUHC, for a precision medicine approach to the genomic diagnosis of female infertility. Prof. Slim is Professor, Department of Human Genetics, 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, and Senior Scientist in the  at The Institute.
  • , in partnership with Illumina, for a pilot study using long-read whole genome sequencing to improve rare disease diagnosis. Dr. Vinh is Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ, and Senior Scientist in the  at The Institute.

The Genomics Integration Program in Human Health supports proof-of-concept projects that bring together academic researchers and user partners to accelerate the integration or commercialization of genomics-based innovations in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
