Welcome to Tobias Wiggins, 2025-2026 Muriel Gold Visiting Professor!

The Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (IGSF) is pleased to welcome Professor as the Muriel Gold Visiting Professor for the 2025–2026 academic year. He will be in Montreal until the end of April, 2026.

Professor Wiggins is an Associate Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Athabasca University. His research spans transgender mental health and sexuality, psychoanalysis, research-creation, queer visual culture, and cisgender psychology. His work critically addresses the ongoing pathologization of gender diversity and advances frameworks for trans-competent, ethical care across clinical, cultural, and institutional contexts. Professor Wiggins is the Director of the , an interdisciplinary research hub supporting qualitative, theoretical, and arts-based research in Transgender Studies.

During his residency at IGSF, Professor Wiggins will be developing research and offering an intensive seminar series engaging topics such as trans methodologies, transphobic countertransference, and trans sexuality. Further details about these offerings will be shared in the coming months.
