Two AES Staff Members Recognized for Excellence

Award of Excellence Reception
Published: 3 June 2026

The Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (AES) is proud to recognize Elaine Quick and Farial Karimian, recipients of this year’s AES  Award of Excellence for Administrative and Support Staff.

Elaine Quick, Morgan Arboretum

Elaine Quick, Office Manager of the Morgan Arboretum and one of the award recipients, joined the team in June 2022 after several years working in accounting roles, first on the downtown campus and more recently at the Macdonald campus, where she distinguished herself through her expertise.

Since joining the Arboretum, Elaine has made a tangible impact on its long-term sustainability. Her rigorous budgeting work has secured funding for student internships and building infrastructure, while her operational leadership has been instrumental in reviving the Arboretum's recreational, educational, and outreach activities following the COVID-19 pandemic. She notably led the return of maple syrup production at Macdonald in 2025 and its expansion in 2026, efforts that have strengthened the organization's revenue base and positioned it for a strong future.

Farial Karimian, Macdonald Market

Farial has been a fixture of the Macdonald Market for nearly 15 years. Over that time, she has played a central role in developing the Friday Baskets program, ensuring students have access to local, healthy, and affordable food. These baskets, now well established, benefit not only the Macdonald campus community but also students and staff from 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ (downtown), John Abbott College, Concordia University, and Macdonald High School.

Her commitment to community continues to leave a lasting mark on the faculty landscape and has contributed significantly to raising the profile of the market and, more broadly, the campus.

Together, Elaine and Farial embody the spirit of the Macdonald campus community and we thank them for their continued contributions towards sustaining the welcoming and supportive community that shapes us.
