Experts: intimate partner violence

The number of reports of conjugal violence received by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) each year has tripled in the last decade, according to news reports. Representatives from the SQ have suggested this increase indicates people feel more comfortable reporting it, rather than an increase in violence.

Pearl Eliadis, Associate Professor (professional) at the Max Bell School of Public Policy, member of the Centre for Human Rights & Legal Pluralism at the Faculty of Law, is a practising lawyer specializing in human rights. She recently co-authored published by the Quebec Homelessness Prevention Collaborative (QHPC) that focused on transitional housing to protect women fleeing violence.
