AES Researcher Daiva Nielsen Receives ASN's Mead Johnson Award

Daiva Nielsen, Associate Professor in the School of Human Nutrition and Scientific Director of the Clinical Nutrition Research Unit (CNRU), has been selected to receive the Mead Johnson Award from the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) and the ASN Foundation.Ìý

The Mead Johnson Award is given to an investigator for a single outstanding piece of nutrition research, or a series of papers on the same subject,ÌýaccomplishedÌýwithin ten years of postgraduate training. It is one of ASN's Early Career Investigator Awards, a category recognizing professionals whose impact extends beyond research excellence to include contributions to the nutrition profession through community service, teaching, innovation, and advancement of the field. The award is supported by the Mead Johnson Pediatric Nutrition Institute.Ìý

ProfessorÌýNielsen, who also holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Ingestive Behaviour, specializes inÌýinvestigatingÌýcomplex contributorsÌýtoÌýeatingÌýbehaviour, includingÌýthe interplayÌýbetweenÌýgenetics,ÌýsensoryÌýperception, andÌýneurocognitive factors.ÌýHer work also exploresÌýthe roleÌýofÌýfood environmentÌýexposuresÌýinÌýshapingÌýdiet and risk factorsÌýforÌýcardiometabolicÌýdisease.ÌýOne of theÌýgoals of her research program is to improve theÌýdesign and delivery ofÌýhealthÌýbehaviour-changeÌýinterventions at multiple levelsÌýthrough trainingÌýthe next generation ofÌýnutrition andÌýdieteticsÌýprofessionals.Ìý

ProfÌýNielsen will be formally recognized at NUTRITION 2026, ASN's flagship annual meeting, taking place July 25–28 in National Harbor, Maryland.Ìý
