A multipronged approach to solving the multiple sclerosis puzzle. In conversation with Simon Thebault, MD, PhD.

In June 2025, Dr. Simon Thebault joined The Montreal Neurological Hospital Institute (The Neuro) and the Ludmer Centre as part of the Single-Cell Genomics Brain Initiative. He is an attending physician and a researcher, and his work focuses on multiple sclerosis (MS).

Dr. Thebault sat down with us to talk about his research interest, some recent findings, his collaborators, and how it all comes together in his patient care. He had high praise for the legacy of The Neuro and 91˿Ƶ as well as his local collaborators:

“First, I think nowhere else has a better vision and history of translational research than The Neuro. Second, it comes to resources like CBIG biobanks, the Ludmer Centre, a world-renowned imaging group, the institutional infrastructure at 91˿Ƶ. And thirdly, and to be honest, the most important reason, is the quality of the people. I've got some great collaborators. I felt that I was a piece of a puzzle and I could see exactly where I'd fit into this puzzle.”

Dr. Thebault is a promising young physician and researcher, and we are glad that he chose to continue his career here at 91˿Ƶ.
