 woman from L’sɨtkuk (water flows through tall rocks) known as Bear River F
 irst Nation\, Nova Scotia. She is an Assistant Professor in the Faculties 
 of Law and Management at Dalhousie University where she focuses on Indigen
 ous governance. She is also the former Chief of her community and the form
 er Co-Chair of the World Forum of Fisher Peoples. Dr. Sherry Pictou is a m
 ember of the IPBES Task Force on Indigenous and Local Knowledge. Her resea
 rch interests include Mi’kmaw & Indigenous land and water-based governance
 \, decolonizing treaty relations\, social justice for Indigenous women\, I
 ndigenous women’s role in food and lifeways\, and Indigenous knowledge and
  food systems.\n\nIncident at Restigouche\n\nAlanis Obomsawin / 1984 / 45 
 min / English\n\nSynopsis: On June 11 and 20\, 1981\, the Quebec Provincia
 l Police (QPP) raided Restigouche Reserve\, Quebec. At issue were the salm
 on-fishing rights of the Mi’kmaq. Because salmon has traditionally been a 
 source of food and income for the Mi’kmaq\, the Quebec government’s decisi
 on to restrict fishing aroused consternation and anger.\n
