She launched a landmark lawsuit aga inst the military that resulted in the ending of its discriminatory policy against gays and lesbians. Douglas has gone on to a lifetime of activism in pursuit of LGBTQ2 equality\; she has recently retired from the Departme nt of Justice after a 30-year career.\n\nAbout the Michelle Douglas Lectur eship\n\nThe Michelle Douglas Lectureship allows the Centre for Human Righ ts and Legal Pluralism to actively engage in public education and communit y outreach on issues of sexuality\, gender expression and gender identity\ , justice and the law\, and to advance justice for LGBTQ2 communities.\n\n The Lectureship is connected to the Martine Roy Student Colloquium\, which gives outstanding law students an opportunity to participate in a learnin g forum\, where they can gain valuable knowledge fo gender and LGBTQ2 lega l issues through collaboration with peers and mentors\, while presenting t heir work for feedback and dialogue.
