 rivate and Government Sponsorship of Syrian Refugees.\n\nThe Syrian confli
 ct has generated one of the worst refugee crisis in the post World War II 
 era. The Canadian system has offered not only government sponsorship of re
 fugees\, but also a private sponsorship program for resettlement and has b
 een deemed a 'role model' for resettlement that should be exported worldwi
 de. Or should it?\n\nWe reflect on the successes and lessons learned from 
 this experience as well as prospects and challenges of ensuring that it re
 sponds to the protection and humanitarian needs of refugees. The event wil
 l be moderated by Professor François Crépeau\, Director of CHRLP and holde
 r of the Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law.\n\nPanellists\n\nJ
 anet Dench is the Executive Director of the Canadian Council for Refugees\
 , where she has worked for over 25 years.\n\nAudrey Macklin is Director of
  the Centre for Criminology and Socio-legal Studies and Chair in Internati
 onal Human Rights Law at the University of Toronto\, and a current Trudeau
  Fellow.\n\nAdnan Al Mhamied is a Syrian researcher with the ‘Refugee Inte
 gration and Long-Term Health Outcomes in Canada’ study (SyRIA.lth) who is 
 currently preparing for his PhD.\n\nSarwat Dalal Bashi is an International
  Human Rights specialist with a wide experience in the field of Civil Soci
