In addition to a distinguished law career\, he chaired the Com mission of Inquiry into the Non-Medical Use of Drugs\, and sat on the Supr eme Court of Canada (1984-1988).\n\nGerald Le Dain was a tireless worker a nd a highly respected judge\, and yet\, in November 1988\, he was compelle d to resign from the Supreme Court of Canada after a hospitalization for d epression.\n\nCBC broadcast journalist Bonnie Brown\, LLB'95\, produced th e award-winning 2018 radio documentary on Gerald Le Dain\, 'One Judge Down '.\n\nRichard Janda\, Associate Professor\, Faculty of Law\, co-edited wit h Prof. Blaine Baker Tracings of Gerald Le Dain's Life in the Law (91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ- Queen’s Press\, 2019). Copies of the book will be available for purchase a t the meeting.\n\nAbout the James 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Society\n\nThe James 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ Socie ty was formed in 1975. Its primary concern is to foster interest and appre ciation of 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ's history and personalities\, which are inter preted broadly to include current activities and impending developments - that is both past history and history in the making. The Society meets fou r or five times a years for a talk\, followed by discussion. The Society c overs the entire spectrum of 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓÆµ life: academic and research activities \, student life\, and administrative activities.
