  Supreme Court’s recent Keatley Surveying decision. This case dealt with c
 opyright in land surveys filed with provincial land registries. The Keatle
 y Surveying judgment will be placed in context with the Federal Court of A
 ppeal’s ruling in P.S. Knight Co v Canadian Standards Association\, which 
 held that statutes can be copyrighted.\n\nMichael Shortt is an intellectua
 l property lawyer at Fasken Martineau. As a litigator\, he appeared before
  the Supreme Court of Canada\, the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appe
 al\, the Ontario and Québec superior courts\, and the Copyright Board.\n\n
