Il y aura d'ailleurs une dégustation de c idres québécois durant la conférence.\n\nL'inscription est limitée à 100 p ersonnes et donc obligatoire. Pour vous inscrire\, écrire à cipp1.law [at] mcgill.ca. Premiers arrivés\, premiers servis.\n\nLa conférence sera suiv ie d'un cocktail.\n\n[En anglais seulement] Up until recently\, Geographic al Indications (GIs) were limited to wine and spirits. Now\, they extend t o a variety of agro-food products such as cider. This expansion\, paired w ith the coming into force of the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (C ETA) in September 2017\, marks Canada’s new mission to increase the scope of protections for GIs.\n\nYet\, surprisingly\, GI protections under CETA only benefit European producers—no Canadian products were included in the list of protected products. Canada’s failure to put products forward for G I protection in CETA is symptomatic of its deficient agricultural policy a nd a hesitation to recognize terroir-related food innovations.\n\nNotwiths tanding federal shortcomings\, other provinces have been quick to act. For example\, Québec has designed original legislation to support and regulat e the development of new local terroir products such as ice cider and ice wine.\n\nEfforts such as Québec’s are particularly timely\, as consumers a re becoming increasingly sophisticated\, crave more authentic products\, a nd pay more attention to what they consume. Products must now speak to the socioeconomic context in which they were grown\, marketed\, and sold\, an d consumers demand better quality and hold producers and governments accou ntable to a greater extent than ever before.\n\nPlease join us for this ha lf-day multidisciplinary conference\, which examines issues and tensions r egarding regulation\, economics\, and culture through the lenses of scienc e\, ethics\, society\, and law. Experts from a variety of disciplines will use cider as a case study\, a bone of contention\, or\, in its French ren dition\, la pomme de discordre!\n\nUne demande d'accréditation pour 4 heur es de formation continue obligatoire pour juristes a été déposée auprès d' un formateur reconnu. \n DTSTART:20180329T173000Z DTEND:20180329T213000Z LOCATION:CA\, QC\, Montréal\, H3C 2N5\, Centre d'entreprises et d'innovatio n de Montréal\, 20\, rue Queen SUMMARY:Terroir of Innovation: the Development of Geographical Indications in Canada – the Case of Cider URL:/law/fr/channels/event/terroir-innovation-developm ent-geographical-indications-canada-case-cider-284301 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
