This award recognizes individuals who have meaningfully bridged theory and application by advancing philosophical, methodological, or empirical understanding of a phenomenon relevant to HPE while offering practical insights with clear implications for educational practice, policy, faculty development, learner support, or systems improvement.

Eligible nominees include individuals who have completed a Masters or PhD focused on a topic relevant to HPE within the two years preceding the nomination deadline, as well as those who are nearing completion of their doctoral studies.

If selected, candidates and nominators will be invited to submit a full application which will include: • A two-page summary of the completed dissertation, detailing: 1. What problem was addressed; 2. How it was addressed (and rigour was assured); 3. Why the work maters (i.e., what key contributions it makes); 4. A description of the strengths the nominee demonstrated in conducting the work. • Two supporting letters indicating why the applicant merits consideration for the award, one from the supervisor of the work and one from another expert in the content area.

We encourage you to consider exceptional candidates within your networks. Should your nominee be selected to advance in the competition, please note that a letter of support - and potentially a nomination letter for the Dean’s signature – will be required within the following month.
