On April 16, 91˿��Ƶ and the Confederation of Faculty Associations of 91˿��Ƶ (COFAM) held a scheduled bargaining session. During this meeting, the University presented five new non‑monetary counter‑proposals addressing sabbatical leaves, tenure‑track professor regulations, contract academic staff (CAS) regulations, retirement provisions, and a new professional development leave option for CAS members.

This matter has been in arbitration for some time. However, the parties agreed to replace the recently scheduled hearing days with negotiation sessions, with the aim of achieving as much convergence as possible before the arbitration phase resumes, during which the arbitrator will be called upon to determine the remaining outstanding items.

There was a negotiating session on April 13, 2026, during which discussions continued in a productive and collaborative manner, with steady progress made on several items. The next meeting is scheduled for May 4, with additional negotiation dates confirmed for May 22 and June 5.

Association of 91˿��Ƶ Professors of Science

Following a petition filed on February 27, 2026, by the Association of 91˿��Ƶ Professors of Science to certify the bargaining unit comprising “all academic staff working in the Faculty of Science of 91˿��Ƶ, except academic staff already covered by a collective agreement,” the Tribunal administratif du Travail, Quebec’s body responsible for overseeing unionization, issued a decision on April 8, 2026, confirming that these positions are unionized and represented by the Association.

Negotiations with MUNACA

Following the request for conciliation, the parties held their first conciliation meeting on March 26. Each side met separately with the conciliator to provide an update on the progress of discussions. Based on the conciliator’s recommendation, the employer will present a comprehensive response to the union’s monetary and non‑monetary proposals on April 22, 2026.

The objective is to narrow the outstanding non‑monetary issues and focus on the key priorities for both parties.

The parties have begun the bargaining process on February 9 and have exchanged their initial proposals.

Discussions are underway, and additional meetings have been scheduled to continue negotiations over the coming weeks.

Negotiations with AGSEM (Academic Casuals) – February 25, 2026

Since March 2025, the parties have held multiple bargaining sessions to negotiate a first collective agreement. Negotiations are progressing at a regular pace, with both sides engaged and exchanging proposals diligently. To date, the focus has been on non‑monetary topics, and the parties have reached agreement on the majority of the articles.

The union is expected to submit its monetary proposals at an upcoming meeting.

Future bargaining dates have already been scheduled for March and April as the parties continue their work toward a full agreement.

The parties are scheduled to meet on February 27 to exchange non-monetary proposals and will establish a meeting schedule for the coming months at that time.

Negotiations with the Power Plant and Macdonald Campus Groups – February 19, 2026

The parties began the negotiation process on September 18, have held nearly ten meetings, and since December 1 have begun discussions on the monetary elements of the collective agreement.

Additional meetings are scheduled over the coming weeks.

Negotiations with MUNACA – February 20, 2026

Since October 10, 2024, when discussions on the renewal of the collective agreement began, the parties have met thirty times and have maintained ongoing exchanges on a range of proposals.

On February 11, the employer’s representatives informed the union representatives that the employer was considering the possibility of seeking conciliation to help advance discussions. The union indicated that it would proceed with a request and submitted one to the Ministry of Labour the following day.
