This talk presents an academic-led\, multisector approach to strengthening stroke care in Colombia and expanding regional impact acr oss Latin America. I will describe how convening diverse stakeholders\, ma pping existing local assets\, and translating real-world data into actiona ble quality indicators can accelerate system development—from prehospital pathways and acute care organization to center certification strategies an d regional collaboration. The session will highlight implementation lesson s from national and regional initiatives\, including efforts to empower ea rly-career physicians\, address access gaps to essential therapies\, and b uild sustainable research and quality-improvement networks. Finally\, I wi ll outline future priorities for long-term sustainability\, with a focus o n rehabilitation capacity\, stable financing models\, and governance struc tures that allow local and national progress to scale regionally.\n\nLearn ing Objectives\n\nAt the completion of this talk\, attendees will be able to:\n\n\n \n Identify common barriers to obtaining reliable stroke informati on for diagnosis and system planning in middle-income settings\, and recog nize feasible strategies to overcome them.\n \n \n Describe how multisector c ollaboration and local asset mapping can be used to design and implement s calable stroke pathways and quality-improvement programs.\n \n \n Apply imple mentation lessons from Colombia and regional Latin American initiatives to define priorities for certification\, sustainability\, rehabilitation cap acity\, and long-term network financing\n \n\n\nSpeaker Bio\n\nJulián Aleja ndro Rivillas\, MD\, MPH is a neurologist and Vascular Neurology Fellow at the Université de Montréal (Montréal\, Canada). He holds a Master of Publ ic Health from the Universidad Internacional de Valencia and is recognized as a Junior Researcher by Colombia’s national science system (Minciencias ). He is a founding member of the Colombian Stroke Association and has pro moted the creation of stroke networks and collaborative platforms in Colom bia and Latin America. He serves as the delegate of the Colombian Associat ion of Medical Schools (ASCOFAME) for the national process of updating the neurology training curriculum in Colombia.
