Historically\, marginaliz ed communities have been underrepresented in trials\, which often limits t he applicability of evidence. This seminar will highlight a randomized con trolled trial co-designed with migrant families and share practical strate gies and resources to ensure clinical trials partner with and recruit part icipants who truly represent the population and condition of interest. We will share our experiences co-leading the MiNav study\, a RCT with an embe dded qualitative component that was co-designed with migrant parents of ch ildren and youth with special healthcare needs to evaluate the effectivene ss of a patient navigator intervention in Canada. We will also discuss our work as Equity\, Diversity\, and Inclusion (EDI) co-leads and members of CIHR-funded research networks such as POPCORN (Pediatric Outcome imProveme nt through COordination of Research Networks) and ACT (Accelerating Clinic al Trials)\, where we have worked and advocated to embed EDI and anti-disc riminatory principles into research design\, conduct\, and teams.\n\nLearn ing Objectives\n\nAt the end of this talk\, attendees will be able to:\n\n \n Explain the historical lack of inclusivity in clinical trials\, the curr ent landscape\, and why inclusivity is critical\;\n Describe how an RCT can incorporate co-design in partnership with migrant parents\;\n Identify str ategies to design and implement inclusive trials and more broadly in resea rch.\n\n\nSpeakers' Bios\n\nPatricia Li is a general paediatrician at the Montreal Children’s Hospital\, Associate Professor in Pediatrics at 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ University\, and a FRQS senior clinician-scientist at the CORE of the RI- MUHC.
